With the development of the commerce system at a large scale, it has become mandatory for Europe, North America, and Asia to implement new strategies and prevent themselves from exploitation in the global markets (Maggio & Stough). It should be noticed that the North American Free Trade Agreement has somewhat restricted itself to the north market, while the European Union has strived the authorities to allow free movement of goods and services in order to strengthen their economies. Most of the policies introduced across Europe and North America are far more flexible than the policies of Asia; the two nations have created a common economic market through tax relief to benefit more and more companies.
The Freight Transportation System of North America and Europe
According to Jean-Paul Rodrigue and Theo Notteboom (2010), the freight system is the wise use of intermodal shipping containers for transferring goods from one place to another through ships, trains, trucks, and planes. Almost all multinational brands of Europe and North America depend on this system to plan their routes and to carry out the shipping services from manufacturers to their customers. Some geographic, social and economic factors affected the airline systems of these states, which is why the railway system has evolved in recent years. A large number of suburban areas are present in Europe and North America, making it difficult for companies to transfer their goods through the planes. That is why they largely depend on trains and trucks.
Unlike Europe, the freight traffic is relatively stronger in North America, and over 35,000 vehicles are used to transport goods from one place to another. However, they are not enough to fulfill the requirements of consumers, and that is why the railway system is given much preference.
