Organisational Communication
Question 1
Post-Positive Theory
* According to the theory, the organisation has an objective existence such that order is its natural condition. People will join and leave, but the organisation will remain.
* According to the theory, the most effective courses of actions have to be chosen. People in the organization have to select actions that help in achieving the best results. The individual mindsets of the members of the organisation are not relevant. In this case, therefore, the effective communications are the ones that are precise and accurate. In regards to communication by managers, they are forced to choose channels and messages that have the best contribution to the achievement of organisational goals. Messages are thus created to keep members of the organisation obedient to rules. A specific example is when a senior manager calls for a meeting involving employees of the organisation. In this case, the decisions are made by the management and the opinions of the employees who execute the decisions are irrelevant.
* This theory may not be applicable in the current organisational settings because the way members are treated determines their output. Members of the organisation in the current environment are motivated more when they are included in the making of decisions.

Therefore, the interest of the organisation is, in reality, the interest of its management. The managerial interests are reified in that they are made to appear natural. From the perspective of critical theorists, the interests of the management are taken to be only legitimate ones, and their domination are hidden such that they seem natural. To explain further the application of the theory in business context, corporations have made technical reasoning appear as the only rational approach to achieving organisational goals. As such, practical reasoning that promotes mutual identification and achievement of the goals of the organisation is made the management to appear irrational. The practical reasoning can also be used by the management as a technique to serve own interests. An example is when an employee comes up with an idea that can promote the participation of members in the decisions. In this case, the idea is dismissed or used to align the members of the organisation with the corporate interests.
* This theory may work in the current organisational environment in that there are employees who internalize the corporate goals into their sense of job satisfaction and personal duty.
Question 2
* One current communication theory is the structural theory. According to the theory, the actions of people lead to the creation of structure, and when they act within the structure, it is pe...
