Communication that Seems like Propaganda and Argument

Essay Instructions:

For this assignment, review the basic concepts of persuasion discussed in Cialdini (2001) and McLean (2012). Make sure you are clear on the distinction between argument, persuasion, and propaganda.
Once you have finished reviewing the background materials, think about communication that you receive in your daily life that is intended to sway your attitudes, opinion, or behavior. This could be communication from your employer, YouTube videos, TV advertisements, spam email, and a host of other communication that you are exposed to in your daily life. After reviewing some communication examples, write a 2-page paper with a minimum of two scholarly sources (citing and referencing) addressing the following questions:
1. Describe a communication example that you have seen that is best described as propaganda. In addition to describing the communication, explain why you think this was propaganda rather than argumentation or persuasion.
2. Now find a communication example that you think is a good example of argumentation.
3. Last, but definitely not least, find a communication example that is best defined as persuasion and best fits the concepts of persuasion discussed in Cialdini (2001) or McLean (2012). Explain why you think this communication best fits the definition of persuasion rather than propaganda or argumentation.

Persuasion
Persuasion and Propaganda are arts of communication meant to influence a particular group of people into a specific belief or ideology. However, the two terms differ in meaning as Propaganda is a mode of organized and careful communication meant to influence a group of people to behave or think differently. These groups can be religious or political to enhance an existing thought or behavior. This is done to act in favor of the propagandist against the opponent. Thus, Propaganda comes in three dimensions. First is black Propaganda, in which the information is fabricated and cannot be justified, as the sources are concealed. Second, gray Propaganda, in which the source of information is ambiguous, and finally, white Propaganda, where both the source and information can be verified. On the other hand, persuasion is the act of convincing a group of people logically, emotionally, and based on the speaker's credibility.
Communication that seems like Propaganda
Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States of America, was known for his social media posts, especially on Twitter. His posts were controversial as it was more of Propaganda than persuasion. His Tweets were misinformation and conspiracy, which later saw him being banned from social media. In an article published by CNN (Collinson, 2018), Trump was quoted inciting people against nuclear power with North Korea. He stated that America's nuclear power was more significant than North Korea's, which could be perceived as war incitement rather than persuasion. Even though he was authoritative, convincing, and had a following, it was Propaganda to incite a war and conflict between America and North Korea.
