Circuit City was the leading electronics retailer in the United States at its peak. Today, however, this brand is since forgotten in history after filing bankruptcy in 2008. While the financial recession is often blamed for this failure, ultimately, managerial & leadership decisions led to the collapse of the brand (BCF, 2016). Therefore, the top three problems included internal decisions, ignorance of changes in the external market, and resistance to change.
Under internal decisions, there are several shortcomings from the management and leadership. For instance, the organization failed to secure prime real estate. As a result, the inconvenient nature of its out-of-the-way locations tempted consumers to choose other retailers like Walmart.
