The covid 19 pandemic changed various things, and people had to adjust to the new normal. China was the first country to record covid 19, and through international travel, the disease spread globally. In its initial stages, the medical fraternity had not discovered the physiology of the disease, and it was difficult to ascertain when the disease would find a cure and how long people could survive with the diseases. However, it was clear that the disease had to be controlled if the human race was to survive, and stringent containment measures were passed globally through the directive of medical professions, health ministries in different countries, and the world health organization. Social gatherings were banned, travels were canceled due to lockdowns, and the entire business landscape changed for the worse.
The change was caused by government directives and the perceptions that people had about the disease and critical stakeholders in all industries. The focus was on the future of the industries, and the underlying notion was that there was no need to put the masses at risk and risk the flow of labor in the future due to deaths. The new normal of staying at home was the inception of the phrase ‘work from home’ whereby workers were permitted to work remotely (Contractor, 2021). This strategy seemed like a solution, but it was not applicable to all industries. There were sectors in the economy that thrived on contact, and the worst-hit industry as hotels and entertainment.
