This is a short written paragraph. For each chapter students must find two news articles from the past month that relate to issues discussed in lecture or the textbook chapter.

News sources such as Buzzfeed, Gawker, and The Onion, Yahoo, are not considered reputable. Students must provide a citation of the article (authors name, date of publication, title of article, publishing company, date accessed, and url). The first sentence should be an argumentative thesis or statement. The rest of the paragraph should be a summary of the articles and an explanation of how they support your argument. Please do not just copy sentences from articles. Please summarize with your own words.

International market trends are continually changing. The article The State of Globalization in 2019, and What It Means for Strategists by Pankaj and Steven points out how the tug of war between economic fundamentals and policy threats have shaped globalization. The authors argue that multinational companies can overcome various obstacles to global business competition. Evidence shows that globalization is on the rise. There is a significant increase in the proportions of information, trade, capital and people flows crossing national borders. However, compared to 2017, the rate of growth was slower in 2018 and the flow of direct investment declined. The authors recommend for businesses on how to compete, where to compete, how to organize and how to engage better with society in the global context.
Political movements are using the demand for human dignity to rally their supporters. The article From Tahrir to Trump: nationalism has hijacked the hope of the people by Temelkuran points out how right-wing populists and ruthless autocrats capitalize need for human dignity to organize and mobilize their followers. It is human nature to demand respect and dignity. The physical consequences of poverty are aggravated by deprivation of human dignity, as a result, the demand for dignity unites the masses leading to a rise in nationalism. The author warns that such leaders come from the privileged classes and that are insincere in their promises to humble the elites and allow the masses to take back their dignity. The leaders point at journalists, the political establishment and scientists as the ones who have been messing with people’s dignity.
