Charlemagne's Palace at Aachen was one of the famous and well-kept Carolingian architectural sites. It was of the primogenital cathedral in Europe. It is one of the best illustration of a classical revitalization style that was featured by the architecture of Charlemagne's sovereignty. Although the construction dates of the Aachen cathedral were are not well known, the cathedral was devoted to the Virgin Mary by Pope Leo II and Christ. After five years the Charlemagne was promoted after five years from a monarch to a Holy Roman Ruler. The dedication occurred 20 years after Charlemagne transferred his kingdom from Ravenna to Aachen. Ravenna is Italy and Aachen is Germany.
When this sanctuary was being built there were a lot of strategies that Charlemagne has in regard to the relationship between the building and the heritages of the ancient Rome and 14th-century ruler Constantine. Constantine was very vital because it was one of the first Christian ruler of Rome (Hopkins, 2014). Additionally, Charlemagne selected the location was chosen because it was a remarkable Roman location with hot springs that were utilized for washing. Some of the materials that were used to construct the cathedral were marble stones, quarry rocks, and columns. Additionally, the picture of the robe of Saint Martin was also put in the cathedral. Another rule that was to enhance the link of Charlemagne was the choice of the Roman soldier who had a dream of Jesus Christ after partaking his robe with the beggar.
