The essence of this artwork is its primary illustration of “Pointillism” that George Seurat. He accomplished the painting of this monumental art work in the middle years of the 1880s. He had a meticulous technique that crafted a scene beyond life using dots were hand-painted on the work’s canvas (Richman-Abdou 2). Seurat stood out with this unique art style at the time and it marked the beginning of a conventional technique that was christened as the “Pointillism Movement” that continues to have massive influence to the present world.
When Seurat started painting this artwork, he had acquired some artistic experience from industry mates that used impressionalism. He portrayed the scenery that a legion of French artists utilized at the time. “La Grande Jatte” was phenomenal scenery that was located on the western side of Paris. It was a beautiful Seine River and park that would bring attraction of artistry to the viewers (Richman-Abdou 4). Seurat had to refine the work by doing preliminary processes on drawings and various sketches. He borrowed some lessons from the Impressionalists at the time to create the painting without using studio materials and premises. The implementation of his technique enabled him to capture the scene’s movement, light and color that he refined y re-visiting the painting in 1886 as a large-scale at work.
Seurat spent a considerable time amount in perfecting the painting. The rationale is that he had a keen interest in utilizing perception and playing using experiments and varied optics. The aim was to produce a painting that would exude meticulousness and comprehension to the targeted audience (Richman-Abdou 6). The painting is an illustrative depiction of the life that Parisians lived during the 1880s. The facing of the river and the reliance on trees and any umbrellas as their shade was a normal lifestyle during this time. The depiction is the relief that Parisians sought as an escaping plan of the hustle and bustle of their cities’ lives (Richman-Abdou 6). They would lounge on the park’s beautiful lawn, carry out some river fishing and admire the serenity typical of the area with the great company of a monkey that stood out as a pet.
The painting renders an unidentified minimalist style that produced unrealistic nature but had a proper range that added positioning to refine it.
