Chick Corea Jazz Concert Review
The performance by Chick Corea, Carlitos Del Puerto, and Marcus Gilmore in Scullers Jazz Club in Boston on the 19th of September 2018 was one of the most epic events I have ever attended. Corea was an iconic Jazz legend who won a historic 23 Grammy awards during his musical career. He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, approximately 8 miles from Scullers Jazz club, where the performance took place, thus making the event a grand homecoming. The stage was perfectly set with attractive low-key lighting creating a pleasing ambiance. Sitting positions in the hall were put so that the artists and the audience were close enough, making some connection between performers and the attendees.
The concert started with an excellent performance by the three artists. Corea began to play the piano for about ninety seconds before being joined by Gilmore for some fantastic drum playing and Del Puerto with great theatrics on the giant guitar that sent the crowd into silence. The show continued for about five minutes, with the performers making some funny gestures on their faces before coming to a halt with a massive round of applause from the audience. It was tough to focus on the three musicians at a go. My attention was particularly drawn by Duel Puerto, who had a considerable guitar taller than him.
