The film Battleship Potemkin created by Sergei Eisenstein is an insightful production even though I felt bored as I watched it. The film is a celebration of the first Russian Revolution that occurred in 1905. Still, I got bored since the character I reasoned was the protagonist, Vakulinchuk, who passes away within 15 minutes of the movie (Eisenstein, 1925). Considering that he was introduced early in the film, I expected him to last longer. The lack of a hero or main character makes it harder to enjoy the movie or even get an emotional connection with what the characters are doing.
Despite some of the film's boring aspects, I was also moved by the movie since it was a very effective propaganda tool by Eisenstein. Each of the scenes support's the theme of the revolution. This is due to the film's different elements, such as the ship itself, Tsar's militia, Odessa harbor, the ship's officers, and the sailors (Eisenstein, 1925).
