The Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Seven Wonders of the World refers to remarkable features named by scholars across the world. In my discussion, I chose The Lighthouse of Alexandria. Most of the scholars argue that it was named after Alexander the Great. It was built in 290BC on the island of Pharos in Egypt at a cost 800 talents with an approximate height of 450 feet (Woods & Mary, 2008). It was later damaged by the earthquakes, abandoned and ruined. The Lighthouse of Alexandria has been used to explain the strategies which were taken by the Egyptian government to make sure that its citizens operate and live in a state of fearless attacks from the Greek raiders (Abdelnaby & Amr, 2013).
