A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a renowned certification globally. In the United States of America (USA), CPA is recognized as a gold standard for finance and accounting roles (Half, 2019). In that light, anyone who would like to gain a good reputation in accounting should pursue a CPA certification. Since my company does not have a meet-the-firm event during the semester or it is geographically impossible for me to attend, the best thing for me to do is enroll in a CPA certification course. With a CPA certification, it will be possible for me to gain relevant expertise in the field of accounting, financial risk management, taxation, and compliance among other crucial skills.
Indeed, pursuing a CPA certification will open numerous career opportunities in the accounting field, including my favorite which is administrative or bookkeeper assistant. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) issues CPA certification upon successful completion of the course. Currently, CPA certification has become a requirement for accounting professionals worldwide. After pursuing a CPA course, an individual becomes a qualified accounting professional in bookkeeping, public accounting, financial advisor, tax compliance, the management or administrative accounting, internal financial auditing, and government accounting (Wen, Hao, & Bu, 2015). When it comes to managerial jobs, CPA is highly valued, and many companies cannot hire a person without this certification. A CPA certification will enable me to become one of the best financial analysts. Specifically, a financial analyst holds a vital role in an organization. The individual supports the growth and development of a firm through financial data analyses, reports preparation, and data interpretation to facilitate effective investment decisions. In addition, a CPA certification will help me obtain knowledge and skills in management accounting. Accounting managers are crucial in a firm since they prepare financial statements and budgets, consult a company’s management team, refine and evaluate accounting procedures. As such, an organization makes good strategic decisions.
A person obtains relevant knowledge and skills after pursuing the CPA course. One becomes a highly qualified financial adviser who has in-depth knowledge in tax laws, administrative tasks, financial planning, and mergers and acquisitions. The most significant thing about the CPA certification is that an individual combines finance and accounting knowledge, which opens a broad array of career opportunities. Research has made it clear that pursuing a CPA course is an essential milestone in the career path of an accountant. Chychyla et al.
