Part I: Career Research
Career exploration is one of the key processes that positively promotes professional development. Before engaging in any profession, exploring the Occupational Outlook Handbook is recommended, which provides adequate information depending on the occupation and key insights for engaging in growth (Occupational Outlook Handbook). I considered the career of human resource manager to gain adequate insight before committing myself to acquire knowledge from the career. The research explores the career of a human resource manager.
HR is the profession that appeals to me, and I decided to research it to collect adequate information that I can use while executing my duties. I explored the profession due to my interest in being a human resource manager. The main factor driving me to the profession is working with employees. In my life, I have always desired to be an employees’ leader, which I will adequately obtain by being a human resource manager. The HR profession is also appealing to me since it creates an opportunity for professional growth by engaging employees of different skills and capabilities.
I took ample time and adequately explored specific details on the HR profession. Some of the details that I considered were the salary of the human resource manager and job outlook, and I also identified how the required skills aligns with my assessment. Besides, I considered key characteristics such as duties, education, and working conditions.
Based on my research, there are key findings that I identified. For instance, the salary of a human resource manager is $58.28 hourly, which amounts to $ 121,220 annually (O*Net Online). Besides, the projected job openings between 2020 and 2030 are 14800, and it means that the profession is adequately growing and would offer more opportunities the time am done with my studies. I also identified HR's job outlook as appealing due to effective relationships and recognitions, enhancing satisfaction and growth (CareerOneStop). I realized that the required skills and interests align with my assessment based on the servant leadership aspect.
I also considered key characteristics such as duties and found that the key role of the human resource manager is the liaison between the employees, subordinates, and peers. They liaise between different departments to ensure successful communication throughout the organization.
