Coursework Instructions:

ITD 3153 LAN/WAN PROJECT

PHASE TWO

For the final part of this project, you may only use the resources in this course to complete and must provide all necessary steps needed to complete the project.

You will need the information from your submitted Phase One project, including any additional adjustments and each CLI step needed to complete the provisioning of your network.

This will be submitted on your course template and uploaded to the Phase Two assignment submission.

Connection to the internet will be provided by an ISP.

The company has decided to occupy 3 floors in an office building.

The following are the updated requirements for the network:

  • The company requires the networks for the three different floors to be different subnets. The connection between these 3 subnets is wired.
  • Each floor should be able to support up to 30 computers/users (1 per computer).
  • Each floor requires only one wireless access point.
  • Each floor needs 1 printer
  • Wireless devices could be smartphones, tablets or laptops.
  • The company would like to have its own email domain and service.
  • The company would like the addressing of the devices to be dynamic.
  • The company would like to have its website hosted on a server that it owns, in Okmulgee.

In order to carry out this design project, you are required to answer the following questions:

  • What is the IP address class required to meet all the above-mentioned requirements? Justify your decision.
  • Suggest an address from the class you suggested previously along with a mask. This would be the address the company is getting from the ISP.
  • What are the masks required to meet the subnetting requirements of the network and each subnetwork for each floor? Justify your decisions.
  • What are the specifications of the used switches in this network? The network requires 4 switches: one main switch and one switch per floor. Justify your decisions.
  • What are the specifications of the wireless access points in each floor? Justify your decisions.
  • What are the servers that the company must have?
  • Draw a simple diagram of your design, including the router, the wired connections, the switches, the wireless access points and the servers, use network diagram tools as necessary.
  • Create a price specification list for all new equipment that will be needed to complete this project.

IP Address Class
The project shall use IP Class A (0-127) because these addresses adequately certify all the company's requirements. First, ACME Brickworks shall accommodate up to 90 users using the internet simultaneously, 30 users per floor. Notably, class A can accommodate up to 128 maximum networks. Therefore, IP Class is suitable in this scenario.
Suggestion for address with a Mask
From IP class A, the company shall use dynamic IP address 10.120.100.0/25 with 255.192.0.0 (/10) as its mask.
Masks Required to Meet the Subnetting Requirements
The masks are required to cover up to a maximum of 3 subnets. In this case, a subnetting mask with 255.192.0.0 (/10) as the address shall perfectly fulfill this requirement since it can accommodate more hosts. This subnet can accommodate up to 4 subnets which are sufficient according to the need. Besides, this subnet can accommodate more than 4,194,302 hosts per subnet, making it the most ideal. At the same time, this subnet mask is more economical to the company since it can fulfill its needs without leaving idle subnets.
Specifications of the used Switches
The three floors shall have no preference for the area network type and may use any Campus Area Network (CAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN). However, the main switch shall use WAN. Besides, the company shall mount use switches that can...
