Feminism has always been ignored when it comes to international relations. According to Egboh and Aniche (2011), the scope of international relations has now evolved to accommodate new concepts, themes, and perspectives. I agree with the authors that historically and traditionally, state and gender boundaries have excluded women from international and political life. Instead, international relations have often been a preserve of men, and it acts as a “primary site for the construction of masculinities through the control and domination of woman” (Egboh & Aniche, 2011, p. 3). Despite this, new discourses have emerged to change how women are treated in the international arena.
Gender equality has been vital in resolving the issue since it has improved the national capabilities allowing countries to have a better pool of politicians, soldiers, and diplomats.
