The article on Establishing an International Criminal Court: The Emergence of a New Global Authority discusses the crimes against humanity in countries like Rwanda and Yugoslavia. After identifying the problem, the article points out the actions taken to curb this issue, including informal tribunals’ creation. However, there have been reactions from people who feel the informal tribunal does not address certain recurring violations. They suggested a permanent International Criminal Court (ICC) established in the Rome Conference. According to Eric (2020), the main actors during this conference were the like-minded countries, the nonaligned movement, and the CICC, each having different interests, including national sovereignty and non-intervention. However, the issues agreed on were jurisdiction, trigger mechanism, and enforcement. Lastly, the article states that it is not sure if the court would handle international justice without being manipulated by politics.
