Response to Frey’s Initial Post, Question A.
I agree with Frey that the air and space operations centers (AOC) maintain connectivity using the Geographically Separated Unites (GSUs) via the utilization of encryption and access control. In particular, the AOC was declared as a weapon system (Skinner 2013, 45). Based on the USAF doctrine, the state requires AOC to practice centralized command with distributed control. In that light, the AOC ought to facilitate effective communication among GSUs to ensure that the commander passes relevant information. Since the AOC relies on network infrastructure, its primary vulnerability might occur if unauthorized individuals get control. Besides, cyber operations are usually included. Moreover, I agree with Frey that the primary vulnerability of the AOC occurs due to its reliance on the data obtained from a multinational operational environment. Notably, the AOC requires synchronization and integration from other functional networks to gather the information (Lemay Center 2016, 147). In addition, AOC domains are sometimes set up based on emergencies. As such, security vulnerabilities are likely to be experienced. On that note, my friend makes it clear that AOC has its strengths and vulnerabilities.

I like Robertson’s response that Information Operations (IO) facilitate various military operations directly and indirectly. Without the intelligence provided by the IO, it can be extremely challenging to conduct military operations.
