Interagency Cooperation and Collaboration during Emergency Incidents
Disasters are inevitable, and healthcare organizations must always be well-prepared to identify and respond to these catastrophic events appropriately. In the scenario at hand, a physician from the emergency department has called me, the administrator on duty (AOD), to seek guidance on how to respond to an incident. The individual has reported that numerous patients are visiting the hospital exhibiting spasms of severe coughing that are triggered by something in the atmosphere (Cooper, 2011). My spouse has informed me that there has been a large explosion at a nearby adjacent industrial facility, and television news indicates widespread panic at the scene. The paper focuses on the importance of interagency cooperation and collaboration when managing emergency incidents and states at least three agencies or organizations that one should communicate with immediately following a disaster.

The tank explosion at a nearby industrial facility might have led to the exposure of particulate matters or substances that are causing people to experience severe coughing.
The first organization that one should communicate with at the onset of a disaster is the one responding to victims. In the scenario at hand, the AOD should give orders for the hospital to initiate the emergency protocol. Specifically, the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) should be deployed since it helps to manage thre...
