Therefore, this calls for the development of a proper way to manage and control it amongst the patients or those at the highest risk of getting it. Due to the nature of the ailment in general, it is important to develop a prevention program that addresses all the aspects related to the disease.

Diabetes Prevention Program is a self-management method that is used in managing and controlling chronic health conditions such as Type 2 diabetes. Researchers have shown that both physical activities and dietary that facilitate obesity can be linked to the development of diabetes. The Diabetes Prevention Program utilizes behavior change theories and has proved that lifestyle intervention consists of approaches that encourage weight loss and promote physical activities, thus helping individuals minimize type 2 diabetes incidents. Enrolling in a Diabetes Prevention Program helps individuals implement the needed lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of getting diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (McSharry et al., 2020). It is also critical to note that the use of the Diabetes Prevention Program helps minimize the cost of healthcare by reducing and avoiding unnecessary care.
The Diabetes Prevention Program has identified goals and objectives that help in preventing and managing depression. Ideally, the behavioral modification program is focused on facilitating weight loss. Individuals aim at losing approximately seven percent of their body weight and maintain reduced weight throughout the intervention process. It is key to note that increasing BMI levels increase one's risk of developing diabetes, and maintaining a lower BMI is critical for reducing diabetes. It is estimated that behavioral weight loss can help lose up to 8.5kg of body weight in six months (Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) Research Group, 2002). Besides, weight loss can be achieved by reducing the amount of fat and calorie intake.
The second goal for the Diabetes Prevention Program is to promote and increase physical activity people are required to have approximately 150 minutes per week of moderate physical activities. Physical activities help burn out fats, eliminate stress, and generally clearing the vessels of any toxicity. Some of the recommended activities include brisk walking, which is needed for achieving the activity goal. Additionally, individuals at risk of diabetes may also participate in other physical activities such as aerobic dance, swimming, and bicycle riding, among others.
The objectives of the Diabetes Prevention Program are to help people already diagnosed with and those at a high risk of getting diagnosed with diabetes to improve their health status and adopt self-management measures that would help in preventing and controlling the complications associated with diabetes.
