Koster considers playing games an essential part of life, which helps in brain growth and enjoyment of different games dynamics. The reading is impressive as it has made me understand the links between play and the brain’s functioning.
Raph Koster considers play an exceptionally tasty pattern that an individual gets to eat up. I agree with Koster’s premise as engaging, enjoying, and being good at playing a game; one has to observe the patterns present, understand, and interpret them to enjoy playing.
Children play games to have fun, be fascinated, and challenge their game-playing skills. Adults play games to relax and keep their minds active to avoid early-onset Alzheimer’s. I agree with this premise as playing games soothes and excites me.
Koster’s book discusses physical play such as hide–the–object play, social such as tic-tac-toe, and solo play such as online video games.
Koster’s ideas on what play means relate to games as it explains the fascination with games due to their impacts on our brains and having fun.
