3. We discussed a few examples of psychological essentialism in everyday thought. Can you think of a real life example of essentialism? Describe it.

As a result of different factors such as the past experiences and social background, one may wrongly conclude an occurrence. An example is a case of one mistaking the remarks of a co-worker as sexual harassment. In such a case, knowledge would play an essential role as it would help the individual differentiate the context in which the remarks were made. The individual would be able to identify the socializing extent of their work environment and thus would avoid the wrong conclusion.

We discussed a few examples of psychological essentialism in everyday thought. Can you think of a real-life example of essentialism? Describe it.
