Questions for video 3:
A) What type of reproductive isolating mechanisms that keeps separate species of lizards from mating with each other when they reconnect and is it pre or post zygotic?
B) Would the diversification of lizards into habitat specific body types be an example of allopatric or sympatric speciation and why (ie what fact(s) allow you to come to this conclusion)?

Briefly (in a sentence) explain why this would be an example of convergent evolution.
This is an example of convergent evolution because the lizards, not closely related, independently evolve the same traits because of adapting to the same environments. Caribbean anoles are categorized as per their body types as well as their environmental niches (Anole Lizards' Adaptations 00:00:07 - 00:01:13). In the islands of Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Cuba, and Hispaniola, there is the same distribution of identical-looking lizards. Every island has slender grass bush anoles with long tails, long-legged trunk ground anoles, short-legged twig anoles, and canopy anoles with large toe pads.
Based on the genetic information, how many phylogenetic species of lizards occur in the Greater Antilles
The DNA sequence analysis discloses the evolutionary relationship among species whereby lizards on every island are closely linked to one another than same-looking lizards on dissimilar islands. This implies that identical lizard types developed distinctly on every island. The larger islands have more lizards. For instance, Jamaica has four lizard species, while Cuba has all six species.
Is the initial speciation event described in this video an example of allopatric or sympatric speciation, and what information specifically allowed you to come to this conclusion?
This is allopatric speciation because two groups of animals are described as different species when individuals from one group do not mate and reproduce with those from the other. Most Caribbean anole species evolved over millions of years from a single colonizing species. Species can be categorized into two for populaces to be detached geographically. Over several cohorts, they can experience adequate shifts in their niches so when they join each other, they do not mate.
When the two species of lizards reconnect, why would this be an example of reinforcement, and what would this suggest about the fitness of hybrids relative to either parent species?
This would be an example of reinforcement because anoles are a group of closely linked lizards that occupy diverse habitats and niches. In addition, alterations in some traits keep species reproductively isolated, and one such trait is the colorful flap of skin or dewlap under the liza...
