Mark Freeman contends that going backward across the landscape of the past may be a significant source of insight, understanding, and self-knowledge. Through time's distance, we may look back on previous events and perceive them as episodes in an unfolding tale. Here, hindsight may lead to insight and even truth that is only apparent in retrospect. This book is a very well organized, delicate, well-illustrated, intuitive work that helps rescue the ubiquitous phenomena of hindsight from its normally negative presentation in mainstream psychology as an undesirable cognitive deficit, and reclaim it as crucial to our development as aware, moral beings.
