A digital wallet is a software program, an online service, or an electronic device that allows users to make transactions electronically (Von Behren & Wall, 2016). It stores the user's password and information for the various payment modes on different websites securely, reducing physical wallets' needs. Digital wallet users can complete transactions easily using the technology of near field communication. Digital wallets are categorized into two; hot wallets and cold wallets. Hot wallets are used primarily for quick payments since they are connected to the internet, while cold wallets are used for holding and storing the user's money and has no connection to the internet (Von Behren & Wall, 2016). The most popular digital wallets include Apple pay, Samsung pay, and google pay. Privacy is a significant concern in using digital wallets since the users are worried about their private information and passwords being exposed and the probability of identity theft. The consumers' fears that the digital wallet providers can monitor their financial behaviors through tracing their whereabouts and by tracking how often they purchase goods and services.
