The Jeffersonian ideologies and remarkable significance in the history of the United States is attributed to the former president’s varied talents. Jefferson made multiple and radical contributions in the political, economic, diplomatic, intellectual, philosophical, scientific and national landscapes. The presidential concept of Jefferson made an impressive combination of his philosophic and pragmatic positions both as a statesman and a politician. Jefferson held the viewpoint that the scope of influence of the Federal government needed to undergo massive reduction to become “rigorously frugal and simple” as a way of reducing the economic burden imposed on the citizenry. The former president’s ideologies put a lot of consideration for the American farmer as the central source of growth of the country’s economy. Jefferson’s crucial acknowledgment of agriculture as an economic activity that contributed the most in the lives of Americans is enshrined in his propositions contained in the Notes on the State of Virginia which stated that those “who labor in the earth are the chosen people of God”. Therefore, Jefferson’s innate value for agriculture played a significant role in reinforcing his pursuits for a democratic republic. While the Jeffersonian worldview put a lot of emphasis on the American farmer as the central source of growth of the country’s economy, the rise of technology, changes in institutional leadership and political parties and environmental changes played a significant role in changing the contextual frameworks that created and supported this philosophy due to the multiple disruptions that emerged from the political and economic regimes.[Locke, Joseph L., and Ben Wright, eds. The Jeffersonian ideology aimed at fostering the establishment of a country whose economic growth was greatly dependent on the agricultural sector. In his view, President Jefferson considered the American farmer as “the bedrock of American democracy and the American economy”. In his position as one of the most profound thinkers in the American political system, the former president considered farming as an instrument that presented the citizens with multiple economic gains.
