Due to a financial crisis, St. Cloud State University shut down six sports teams in the 2016-2017 academic year. Many laws that prohibit gender-based discrimination exist, but the Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 provides fine details (Justia US Law, 2021). The law demands equitable treatment and opportunities for both male and female student-athletes in educational institutions.
