Supervision is essential in an organization because it ensures work is effectively done and problems are handled on time. Supervision may take many forms depending on the type of organization and leadership styles. Supervisors supervise staff by helping them do a better job through explanations, training, evaluations, changes, and support (Halley, Kopp, & Austin, 1998, pp. 543). For example, in South Oaks hospital, experienced employees help new employees settle in and understand the workplace.
