Wu wei is better described as self-less action, not action-less action as some texts call it.

Hi all, as you look at Wu -wei this week it is a lot like mindfulness. So, here are some pointers about mindfulness:
We live in autopilot mode. Think of driving down the road and thinking about things other than driving down the road. Think of washing dishes yet pondering what to cook for supper. Mindfulness is about experiencing the joy of driving or washing dishes, not mentally wandering about.
When you are in autopilot you can overly obsess about things, causing mental illness (I have that problem!)
Mindfulness involves observing things rather than thinking about them or thinking about other things than what you are doing.
Mindfulness means describing things: what does the fruit you are eating smell like, feel like, taste like?
Mindfulness is about enjoying the full moment of cutting the grass or fixing the toilet.
Mindfulness is about being non-judgmental. Do not evaluate experiences as good or bad or a waste of time. Accept your experience as is.
Mindfulness is about focusing on one thing at a time. Wash the clothes then begin supper. Do your homework then think about what to wear tomorrow.
Mindfulness is not about having no goals. Instead, you work on each component of your goals fully as you get to them.
Mindfulness is not about having no direction. It is not about having no drive. It is about enjoying the journey fully and in the moment as you work toward your goals.
We all have to take out the trash. Just enjoy the moment of taking out the trash, then move on to the next task and enjoy that as well.

REL212 WORLD VIEW CHART

This chart contains all the research you need to write the final paper for this course. If you do the research and reading on the religion(s) we study each week, and if you give yourself a good guide to the religions using this chart, you will have a good foundation for that final paper. The more information you provide for yourself with this chart, the easier it will be to write your final paper. Do not forget to provide adequate material for any in-text citations and be sure to include a reference page as well. On the left-hand side of the chart are the categories and the content to be discussed.
Complete and submit the following chart. Provide citations for any source(s) you used to explain or provide examples for in your research. List in APA Style full references for any in-text citations and source(s) made in the above chart. Use full sentences and correct grammar, etc.

Student Name:

RELIGION(S) OF THE WEEK

Provide your response in this column.

* State the name of the Religion being addressed in this chart.
* Please address ONLY ONE (1) religion per chart. If there is more than one religion for the week, do two charts.

Daoism aka Taoism

ORIGIN OF ALL THINGS

Provide your response in this column.

Every religion has a cosmology/cosmogony to explain its view of the universe and the place of humans in it. Explain the cosmology/cosmogony for this week’s religion. Explain how it is manifested in the subsequent worldview that develops for that religion.

All religions have their defined or implied cosmology/cosmogony. They have stories about the origin of the universe and how the world came into existence. Unlike other religions, Taoism lack symbolic deities and instead focus their views on elemental or energetic principles (Reininger, 2017). This makes the system to appear rather abstract and unusual especially among those experiencing the religion for the first time. Taoism believe that in the beginning the world was void and endless, also known as Wu Chi or Tao. From Tao, the universal energy, all things came to being. One emerges from Tao and manifests in the world and makes it to divide into two: the Yang and Yin. Yin and Yang undergoes constant transformations (dance) that causes the flow of chi or qi. Five elements emerge from Ying and Yang, namely; wood, fire, metal, water, and earth. Beginning from the five elements, ten thousand things that represent everything experienced today. Humans are among the “ten thousand things” made through the combination of the five elements.

NATURE OF GOD/CREATOR

Provide your response in this column.

In what way does this religion have a God or gods? How does this worship of deity/deities reflect the cosmology of the religion? If the religion has no God/gods, in what way does this absence reflect their cosmology?

As discussed above there are no God/gods or symbolic deities. Instead, Taoism focus on elemental or energetic principles of the universe. This is in contrast with most Abrahamic religions. Believers in Taoism do not have an omnipotent being who is credited of creating and controlling the universe. All things emerge and are control...
