Islam is an Arabic name used to represent a religion for the Muslims. The Arabic word implies the attainment of peace through submission to Allah whereby Allah is an Arabic name the Muslims use to refer to their eternal God whom they believe. The following is a description of the history of Islam, the importance of Quran, five pillars, and Ramadan to the Muslims and Islam ethics. Lastly, the significant similarities and differences in how the branches of (Sunni, Shiite, and Sufi) practice their traditions
Most historians believe that Islam originated in Mecca and Medina, which are both cities in the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia at the start of the 7th century. Muslims believe it began after a disclosure of God through Angel Gabriel to Muhammad. Muhammad was a man born to the powerful tribe of the Quraish in Mecca city. His grandfather following the death of his both parents took in Muhammad. Muhammad grandfather later died, and his uncle Abu Talib who was then a leader of the Quraish tribe absorbed him to his family and raised him.
A wealthy widow named Khadijah proposed marriage to Muhammad after being impressed with his skills of running a business and they later got married. Muslims believe Muhammad received orders from Allah to openly damn idolatry and paganism of Mekkah (Ali & Leaman, 2016).The open condemnation of idolatry raised opposition to Muhammad and Islam. Despite the considerable opposition, Muhammad was able to spread Islam through intimidation and force establishing a religion that continues to prevail in the Arab world today.
Muhammad died at the age of sixty-three, but Islam continued to thrive under the leadership of Muhammad’s partners that is Abu Bakr and Umar. Other leaders followed continually expanding the borders of Islam. Arms force stretched out Islam as a political, social, and economic system. Islam is one of the world's prevailing religions and claims a significant percent of the world’s population.
In the Islam religion, there are three elements, which include Quran, five pillars, and Ramadan. The elements are considered to be of great importance among Muslims. For instance, Quran is important among the Muslims because it serves as proof to Muslims of a covenant between Allah and themselves. It also acts as the last source of prophetic revelation, and finally serves as a material guide for individuals, communities and all classes of people so that they can exhibit behaviors that are acceptable by Allah...
