The light from the left visual field is inverted through the lens and detected by the right half of each retina and vice versa, and the images projected to the retina are upside down. V1 is the striate or primary visual cortex in the posterior part of the brain's occipital lobe. Image captured by an eye is transmitted to the brain by the optic nerve and then projected to the primary visual cortex, which reconstitutes the image from the retina.
