Hypothesis
Research hypothesis:
H1: The relationship between a person’s race and their attitude towards gun permits (favor, oppose) is insignificant.
H1: The relationship between a person’s income and their attitude towards gun permits (favor, oppose) is insignificant.
Null hypothesis:
H0: There is a strong relationship between a person’s race and their attitude towards gun permits (favor, oppose).
H0: There is a strong relationship between a person’s income and their attitude towards gun permits (favor, oppose).
Data Analysis
The study involves one dependent variable (FAVOR OR OPPOSE GUN PERMITS) and two independent variables (Race and Income of the respondents). Being nominal variables, we use Chi-square as a level of measurement of the variables to determine the test of significance.

a. 0 cells (0.0%) have expected count less than 5. The minimum expected count is 34.08.
From the table above, the sig. (2-sided) is 0.001. The sig. Value of .001 is less than the p=0.05.
A Chi-Square value of 14.041 with 2 degrees of freedom indicates that there is statistically significant difference between races of the respondents when it comes to preference on gun permits at p=0.001.
We, therefore, reject the null hypothesis since the sig. value (0.001) is less than the p value (p=0.05) and accept the research/ alternative hypothesis.
From the above analysis, we can conclude that, as predicted by the alternative hypothesis, the relationship between a person’s race and their attitude towards gun permits (favor, oppose) is insignificant.
