A developmental crisis emanates from predictable changes or normal stages of human development. For example, although it is a predictable event, graduating from college can trigger complex changes, including identity shifts, transition into employment, and residential changes. After leaving college, the graduate typically experiences shifts across diverse life domains such as friendship networks, work, recreation, residence, relationships, as well as daily routines. In addition, the self-identity challenges present a developmental crisis as the individual transitions from their role as a scholar to a more independent young professional or adult (Robinson et al., 2021). A situational crisis emanates from an unexpected trauma, potentially triggering high levels of stress in the individual. An example of a situational crisis is the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, which prompted governments and organizations to develop challenge-driven policy frameworks. The disruption of normal working hours and business models constituted a challenging situational crisis that allowed governments and policymakers to appraise their policy foundations critically (Chunxia et al., 2022).
