Steps to Identify the Stakeholders Most Relevant to Organizational Practice
Identification of stakeholders is essential for the success of an organization. There are both internal and external stakeholders. Since stakeholders play a crucial role in the success or failure of an organization, it is vital to identify them. The following is a discussion of steps that should be used to identify the stakeholders that are most relevant to organizational practice. The first step should be identifying the stakeholders directly affected/impacted by the organization. Each organization is unique in terms of the services that it offers. Consequently, different organizations are going to impact different categories of individuals. The best place to start identifying the stakeholders who are most relevant to the organization is identifying individuals, parties, or groups of people that are directly affected by the activities/ services of the organization. These stakeholders are going to be very important since the organization directly impacts them.
The second step should be using logical and methodical analysis to determine the stakeholders whom the organization indirectly impacts. The logical and methodical analysis is critical as it will help narrow down to only those stakeholders who are relevant to the organization. There may be a large number of people who are affected by the organization, but the goal should be to identify the most important ones. It is important to identify these stakeholders so that the organization can then devise ways of how to ensure that the stakeholders are satisfied (Pedrini & Ferri, 2019). With appropriate logical and methodical analysis identifying these stakeholders should be a simple process.
The third step should be seeking the intervention of an expert. It is not uncommon for organizations to miss out on some key stakeholders while doing their analysis. Consequently, it might be very important to engage an expert to identify any left out key stakeholders. The section above discussed the importance of using logical analysis to identify the stakeholders who are directly and directly affected. While this process should largely be successful in identifying the most relevant stakeholders, it is not uncommon to leave out an important stakeholder. An expert would help carry out a comprehensive analysis and list all the most relevant stakeholders (Pedrini & Ferri, 2019).
The last step should be brainstorming. While it may sound as if it is a shallow way of identifying stakeholders, extensive evidence has revealed that brainstorming has the unique capability of bringing out unique angles that may be missed out in other steps. The key to successful brainstorming is ensuring that a vast/ comprehensive list is prepared for the same. Brainstorming has the potential to identify subtle but important details concerning the most relevant stakeholders. An organization can successfully identify the most relevant stakeholders using the above-mentioned steps. The...
