Organizational Leadership. Write responses to each item. Coursework

Coursework Instructions:

Write responses to each item below:
1. How do you define leadership? Consider all of the information from the lesson in developing your definition. Compare and contrast your definition with the concepts and definitions of leadership presented in the course (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2019). Indicate any assumptions that you have about leadership (or your own leadership). Analyze how your definition compares with the interactional framework for analyzing leadership and with each of the interactional components. Provide examples from your own leadership or the leadership of others that you have observed or read about to support your definition. What challenges arise regarding the study of leadership or the development of your leadership capacity as we start the course?
2. What are your plans for leader development? Draw upon the readings about leader development. As you consider how you plan to become a better leader, describe at least two skills that you would like to develop (such as improved interpersonal skills or strategic planning). What methods (formal training, action planning, coaching, etc.) will you use to develop your skills? Why do you believe these approaches will be effective? Be as specific as possible about the types of training you might take, the behavioral changes that you might like to make with your coach, and so forth. Take this assignment as the initial step in your leader development process.
Limit your responses to two to three double-spaced pages using Times New Roman 12-point font.
Use APA format to provide citations and references for all of the sources that you cited in this assignment.

Organizational Leadership
Question One
Leadership is the ability to create a vision for followers, establish ethics and values, and transform the operations of an organization to attain set goals. In this sense, leadership encompasses a myriad of competences some of which include decisiveness, compassion, ability to motivate, change management, and problem-solving ability. In their book, Hughes, Ginnett, and Curphy (2019) list several definitions and point out that there is no single correct definition of leadership. The similarities between my definition and the definitions raised in the book include the influence concept, goals, and the presence of followers. A difference is that my definition mentions ethics and values but those in the books do not. Assumptions that I have about leadership are that there must be a front-runner, followers, and goals to be achieved. In this case, the front-runner (leader) influences the followers to achieve the set goals.
The interactional framework for analyzing leadership has three elements: leader, followers, and situation (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2019). According to the framework, leadership arises from a complex set of interactions among the three elements. My definition of leadership compares fairly with the interactional framework. Both by definition and the framework contain the leader and follower elements. However, my definition differs from the interactional framework when it comes to the third element. While my definition has goals, the interactional framework has situation. To support my definition, I would give the example of Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft. As the leader of the company, he creates a vision for his followers and together with them, they transform the operations of the organization to achieve its goals...
