Background and Scope of the Research
During the beginning of the 21st century, the world witnessed enormous changes driven by a number of global forces, including technological advancements, natural disasters, and the introduction of government policies, which had direct impacts on business firms. Today, these forces continue to define the competitiveness and relevance of modern-day firms in Africa and around the world (Sarokin, 2019). Africa, which is a continent of many countries has its fair share of the above business forces working against modern business firms (Desjardins, 2018). Particularly, new business ventures with branches in any one of the countries in the continent face the above forces in different measure as in another country in the same continent. As a result, this paper lists the above forces and shows how they affect firms in Africa. It is, however, practical to state that as a result of different policies, technological breakthroughs, natural disasters, and immigration and the labor market in different countries, investors should practice due diligence before starting and moving firms as this will tell if they will make profits, losses or break even.
