Organizational diagnostic models enable managers to identify reliable data that can help them to understand their firm’s deficiencies, opportunities, and strengths. They articulate measurement strategy and targeted intervention. Some types of diagnostic models that managers can use include a balanced scorecard, quality management, and outcome-based evaluation. Managers should choose the appropriate diagnostic models to use based on what they want their organizations to achieve.
Managers determine the appropriate diagnostic models to use by first identifying the information they need to capture.
