The first cause of delay in schedule is poor communication. One of the common mistake that project managers make when managing a certain project is not keeping some team members in the communication loop. Additionally, there are times when clients might change their mind on the parameters and they might even express their dissatisfaction with the progress of the project (Meredith, Shafer, & Mantel, 2018). This can cause delay of the schedule. Further, when these clients withhold their funds for the projects due to certain reasons like failure to have a good plan, a delay of schedule is experienced. There are several techniques that team members can apply to assist in maintaining the schedule of the projects. Some of these techniques include determining the critical path of the project, building Slack time into the schedule, crashing where it is necessary, monitoring the project and determining the scope of the project. Team members can also learn to use project management tools to maintain the schedule of the project. For example, they can use Nutcache’s time management tool as part of the project management program (Meredith, Shafer, & Mantel, 2018).
