One of the causes of poor listening is low concentration. Low concentration can result from physical, visual, or mental distractions, low volume, physical discomfort, and lack of interest in the topic of discussion. To have high concentration, one needs to focus entirely on the speaker. One should avoid getting distracted by physical and visual images and thoughts. When feeling uncomfortable, one should excuse themselves. Showing interest in the topic of discussion also improves one's listening skills.
