Analysis of the "Language of the Brag"

Coursework Instructions:

Choose a poem from this week’s readings and explain how it shows its female character(s) being empowered (or not). Identify and analyze one crucial poetic device (distinctive diction, imagery, metaphor, allusion, etc.) that the poet uses to convey her message. Remember, as always, to include brief quotes to support your claims. ( i already have this part)
In response to your classmates, compare the different ways in which diction and word choice were specifically used to convey themes of empowerment in women in the works being discussed.(this is what i need)
In addition to the initial response post to DQs, you are expected to post a minimum of two response posts to classmates. Please note the following:
Response posts to classmates should be substantive. Saying, "I agree" or "Great job, I didn't know that" are not substantive posts. Posts of this type will not be counted as a substantive response. A substantive response post to a classmate does not necessarily require a reference. However, in order to be substantive, the response post to a classmate should be contributing new information to the discussion and not be simply “conversational.” These response posts should be at least 100 words in length.
As with your initial posts, brief supporting quotes are always required, along with MLA parenthetical citations, and a works-cited entry is not expected unless you cite a text that is not on our syllabus.

Childbirth only occurs in women, and word choice such as passing feces and blood as part of the process of giving birth shows the challenges that women undergo. The words in the poem are used to shape gender identity. The poet challenges the abjections to the material body, and that is why most of the details focus on the process of motherhood. Her use of diction has been critical in presenting the poem as an extended metaphor that compares the process of creating life to the process of creating art. She writes, "I and the other women this exceptional act with the exceptional heroic body" (Olds Lines 31-32). She uses vivid imagery to describe the challenges that women face during the period of pregnancy and what occurs at childbirth. The themes of empowerment also arise in the final stanza, where women's ability to give birth is regarded as an achievement. This is where the bragging occurs, and she glorifies the sacrifices and actions of women. She says, "I and the other women this exceptional / a...
