Understanding the various kinds and aspects of the human immune system is essential for everyone. It allows for a better appreciation of how the human body adapts to the various internal and external elements that may cause its deviation from its homeostatic functions. 
Accordingly, the cellular immune response involves activating immune cells, such as T cells and natural killer cells, to attack infected or cancerous cells directly. The cellular immune response is specific and targeted, and it can remember previous infections, allowing for a more rapid response to subsequent exposures to the same pathogen.
