Atomic Nuclear Decay

Coursework Instructions:

Discussion Question 1
Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research atomic nuclear decay. On the basis of your research, respond to the following:
Why and how does atomic nuclear decay take place? Explain, being sure to address different types of decay.
What is the significance of atomic nuclear decay? (How is it used to our advantage?)
What is your analysis on the societal implications of using this process? (What safety precautions are required and are there negative impacts?)
Discussion Question 2
Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research the phenomenon of radioactivity and its applications in healthcare. Based on your research, respond to the following:
What are the various uses of radioactivity in healthcare?
What are the future trends in healthcare with respect to the use of radioactivity?

Atomic Nuclear Decay
Nuclear decay happens when an atom’s nucleus is unstable and impulsively emits power in the form of radiation. The process results in nucleus modification into the nucleus of one or more elements with a reduced mass and strength than the original nucleus (Gov, 2018). The three main types of decay are beta decay, alpha decay, and gamma decay, all containing one or more phantoms.
The relevance of Atomic Nuclear Decay
Atomic nuclear decay plays a significant role in facilitating a carbon relationship, a technique used to determine the age of fossils based on carbon-14 to nitrogen-14 beta decay (NIST, 2021). Also, uranium days produces power through chain response which is used as nuclear power technology foundation and the creation of nuclear weapons.
Societal Implications
Alpha molecules are discharged by uranium, thorium, radium, and other factors larger than uranium. The ejection of alpha molecules is harmful if they contact individuals’ internal human body systems. The beta particles produced through beta particle emission are electrons discharged by the nucleus. The molecules can easily penetrate through individuals’ skin than alpha molecules. However, individuals can stop beta particles with a...
