What are some of the reasons that intellectual property requires different legal protections than tangible or real property?
Difference between intellectual and real property. The real property might be land, a truck, a home with land, or a motorcycle. Real property can be touched. In contrast, intellectual property can have several forms and is intangible property. A recorded process of how to do something, not shared with the public, and just written manuscript or novel. The idea is still in the making.
Intellectual property law protects rights in intangible property. Intellectual property law deals with the abstract ideas, processes, and concepts that are, in many cases, still being developed. Real property law protects tangible or physical property.
Protection of your IP (Intellectual Property) gives you exclusive rights in the jurisdiction that it is registered, like your brand name, design, or invention. IP is protected by law in the form of copyrights, patents, and trademarks; this enables people or inventors to earn recognition or financial benefit from what they create or invent.
IP rights and protection are for those who invent. IP protects inventions, original works, the appearance of products, artistic works, and scientific developments.
