Today, Microsoft supports Linux Graphic User Interface (GUI) and applications through the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)2 to allow programmers to code multi-platform and native apps using tools such as Visual Studio (VS) Code, KDevelop, and GNOME Builder (Microsoft, 2021). Furthermore, Windows 10 2004 Build 19041 or later versions can run real Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), and Debian. This support has made it possible to run both Windows and Linux applications concurrently. Not only do corporations require this functionality in administering servers, Windows and Linux integrations make it seamless to run supercomputer applications and developers to utilize cloud-based DevOps. Among the common ways of integrating Windows and Linux include dual-booting Linux and Windows with Cygwin and Wubi, using WSL 1 or 2, and running Linux distro on a Virtual Machine (VM).
