In the post WWII/Cold War one of the U.S. main goals was stopping the spread of communism though Policy of Containment in 1946-1949. The political cartoon has a Soviet Union/USSR bear, to symbolize the risk of communism spreading across the world beyond the USSR. In the cartoon on US strategy of containment, the USSR bear is shown to spread to different countries and continents including the nearby, China, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Thailand in Asia and Eastern Europe.
