According to Watson’s human caring theory, healthcare delivery should focus on human values, humanistic aspects of care, and constant nurse-patient interactions (Aghaei et al., 2020). The primary gist of the theory is the human-to-human caring interactions and trans-personal relationships. Applying Watson’s theory to inform care and treatment intervention demonstrates promise in augmenting patients’ mental health and nurse job engagement and satisfaction. Embedding Watson’s caring theory core values in practice demonstrates positive nurse and patient outcomes (Wei & Watson, 2019). The nurse would use this theory to ensure the hospital care models are tailored to protect, preserve, and enhance human dignity. This would be achieved by demonstrating respectful and trustful interpersonal relationships with the patients to preserve their dignity in practice environments (Pajnkihar et al., 2017).
Watson’s human caring theory would be applied to shape practice models and thus inform treatment and care interventions.
