Stress Assessment
The Process of a Stress Assessment.
The stress assessment process has four significant steps: finding the baseline, ascertaining stressors, treatment, and monitoring progress. The health professional should determine the severity of the patient's stress by finding the baseline (Alkhawaldeh et al., 2020). Afterward, the nurse identifies the factors leading to the patient's stress and commitment to change. After identification of the stressors, the health worker then develops a stress management plan as they monitor the progress. The health worker discharges the patient after achieving the desired outcome.
Stress Management Strategies and Methods of Implementation
Stress management strategies include mindfulness and meditation practices. Mindfulness is awareness of the surrounding or prevailing situation (Van den, 2021). During implementation, the patient is required to be conscious of their environment by utilizing their five senses. For instance, the patient must pay attention to the present on what they hear, see, feel, smell, or taste. Besides, meditation is the practice of connecting the mind and the body as a way of stress relief. In this case, the health expert guides the patient to breathe deeper while sitting in a full lotus position. These strategies aim at calming the nervous system for stress management.
