Part 3: Strategies to Promote Academic Integrity and Professional Ethics
Academic integrity is the most critical entity in every course because it demonstrates moral ethics and honesty in academic writing. It also involves developing original work by using other people’s work and acknowledging it by quoting content or inserting in-texts and references in the paper (Donovan, 2010). The process of acknowledging you have borrowed ideas from authors is a way of committing to academic integrity. Additionally, following the proper formatting procedures helps students uphold university, college or high school standards.
Relationship Between Academic Integrity and Writing
Originality an essential aspect of academic writing because it involves taking other people’s work, paraphrasing it to make it unique and original. It is vital to understand that academic integrity and writing are directly related since they call for referencing and inserting in-texts whenever you use someone’s work. Academic integrity helps authors and writers trust each other and use correct formatting to ensure originality in academic writing. Moreover, academic writing is a genre that focuses on promoting scholarly ethics, thus enhancing honest and integrity in learning institutions. Observing integrity helps an individual to develop honest writing strategies (Garza & Parnther, 2018).
As discussed in part 2, writing strategies are essential in developing original content. The objective of academic integrity is to enhance self-confidence through other people’s work. Students can be more productive in their studies through this process since their work is original and observes professional ethics in writing. Furthermore, integrity in academics motivates writing, and it is a way of introducing new ideas in academics. It (academic integrity) also motivates creativity in writing. Integrity incorporates discipline, which creates a good environment for writing (Garza & Parnther, 2018).
