Company loyalty is the attitude in an employee of being devoted to their employer, whether it is a private or public organization. This requires the employee to align their interests with those of the company such that the two coincide and reinforce each other. An employee who is loyal to his company also assumes the role of an unofficial representative of the firm, standing up to extol its strengths and defending its weaknesses. In the modern world, where employment is fluid, and companies reliant on fewer employees, the concept of company loyalty may seem out of place but not entirely unnecessary. As more forms of employment come into play in the global economy, such as freelancing and temporary contracts, would-be employees are more likely to consider themselves partners or consultants rather than workers. It is, therefore, a concept that is rapidly changing with the transformations gripping the job market globally. However, it is important for organizations to foster some degree of loyalty among employees, partners, consultants, etc., as a form of reputation management.
