The Fast Facts released by the American Nurses Association regarding the nursing workforce in the year 2014 shows data regarding the demographics, education, salaries, growth, and trends of the registered nurses in the United States. A comparison of these factors depending on the state of nursing practice was also discussed. It is important to note that the date is from 2012 projecting up to the year 2022. Based on the data presented, there is an annual growth rate of jobs for registered nurses, both for replacement positions and new ones. This means there is also an increase in the employment demands for nurses in the coming years, also considering those who will be retiring and leaving the workforce. In line with this information, the median of the salaries of registered nurses in the United States of America on the year 2013 was $66,200, which is also comparable to the differences in salaries depending on the state. The ranking of salaries was shown with California taking the lead as having the highest salary for registered nurses, and aside from the top-paying states, the 10 states with the lowest median salaries were also shown. Contributing factors that affect the nursing workforce were also considered in this report such as education and demographics, presenting a trend of higher levels of education in urban areas than in rural. The sample representing the nursing workforce in this report are mostly aged 50 years old and above, amounting to more than half of the sample workforce as the years progressed. Aside from age, the gender of the nurses is also mostly female, but with the shown increase in the male population in the workforce as the years progressed (American Nurses Association, 2014).
