Review the data presented in the ANA Fast Facts and describe some of the key attributes/characteristics of this sample of the nursing workforce.
The data presented shows important growth aspects on the nursing profession between 2012 and 2022. Some of the important characteristics I noted of the sample include an increase in the number of RN positions that are available for advanced practice nurses and registered nurses (American Nurses Association, 2014). The profession has grown and it is now among professions in the 10th percentile. I also noted that the difference between RNs living in rural areas and those in urban areas has reduced to 1.3% only. Further, the number of men working as nurses in the workforce has increased significantly.
Discuss some of the data that you found interesting; include what you believe the purpose (intent) of ANA sharing these results.
It was interesting to note that the mean average of the postsecondary teachers and instructors has increased to $70,200 while the mean salary of RNs is now at $68,910. I expected that RNs earn more than teachers since RNs are given the responsibility of taking care of lives. I also noted that nurses earn a high salary in San Francisco; $131,800 annually (American Nurses Association, 2014).
